Hi, I’m Tom and I’m an artist based in the UK creating light adaptive paintings.
What are light adaptive paintings? They are paintings that adapt to the light in which they’re seen, appearing to depict one image in natural light while secretly hiding a second image that is revealed by viewing the painting in coloured light. I developed my own technique and style to produce the paintings.
I use standard inks to make the paintings and they’re all hand-painted. The images shown represent the paintings as well as I can online, but the art is actually meant to be experienced in person rather than through a screen. No camera tricks or computer effects are used to achieve the effect, which can often appear to be magical in person, especially to those who have not be forewarned what they’re about to see.
I also paint in other eye-deceiving styles, and those paintings will appear on this site shortly.
